Resumen:
Compact groups (CGs) are extremely dense and relatively isolated galaxy systems. The nature of CGs has been a controversial issue, since a rapid merger of its bright galaxies would be expected. A broader picture of the formation scenario for CGs can be obtained when considering where they were formed. In our study, we analyse the occurrence of CGs in the environment of cosmological voids (CVs), to understand whether lower density environments in the universe may be conducive to their formation. The adopted observational samples of CGs and CVs were obtained from two surveys: the Two Micron All Sky Survey and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We found that only 7% of CGs in both catalogues are considerably close to CVs. In addition, we observed differences in some physical properties of CGs according to their location relative to CVs.
