Resumen:
In this chapter I analyze the case of the green revolution in Chile and the personal contacts and philanthropic networks that made it possible for the Rockefeller Foundation to take an interest in the conditions of Chilean agriculture and undertake two major strategies to promote agricultural modernization: the first was the scholarship program for agricultural disciplines that included ninety-three graduates from all Chilean universities that taught courses in these disciplines. The second strategy was the development of the Chilean Agricultural Program (PACH) that was articulated with the similar ones that were operating in Mexico and Colombia and also with other smaller programs that the philanthropic agency developed in the region.
