Ir-Re supported on different solids were thoroughly characterized. The nature of the support influences the species of Ir and Re formed and in consequence, the catalytic performance. High yield to BDOL (53%) from Erythritol was obtained on Ir-Re/T, wich have Ir metallic particles in contact with ReOx with +IV stable valence.
