Resumen:
Consumption of a high fat diet is a key factor in the development ofpathophysiological alterations leading to metabolic disorders suchas insulin resistance and obesity. Mrp2, an ABC transporter actingas intestinal biochemical barrier, strongly influence the bioavailability, and hence the efficacy and safety, of orally administered drugs.Interestingly, several of these drugs are prescribed to patients withsuch alterations. We here evaluated the effect of standard diet enrichedwith 40% kcal from bovine fat (HFD) to C57BL/6J male micefor 8 weeks on jejunal Mrp2 expression, by western blot, and onits transport activity, by using the everted intestinal sacs model.Control mice (C) received standard diet. Statistical analyses wereperformed using t-student’s test and results were expressed as %of C. Fat consumption led to high plasma triglycerides and glycemialevels, as well as insulin resistance and a marked increase ofepididymal fat in HFD vs C (p
