Resumen:
Bone tissue engineering allows the generation of new biomimmetic structures that fulfill part of the bone´s lost functions. This work proposes the synthesis and characterization of bioactive glass scaffolds by the sponge replica method, containing mesoporous bioglass particles, capable of releasing a model drug such as tetracycline. Stable and homogeneous structures were achieved, with a pore size in accordance with the intended application. With the addition of mesoporous particles, this porosity decreases slightly, giving rise to small agglomerates in the structure. The new generated structure presents slightly higher compressive strenght resistance than the scaffolds without the mesoporous particles. Also, these structures release the drug at short times, inhibiting bacterial dhesion.
