Resumen:
Today, there has been an unprecedent urban growth that entails enormous challenges worldwide. We refer to phenomena such as the population growth, the increase in environmental pollution, the inadequacy of infrastructures and basic services and the expansion of cities without planning. In this scenario, cities face the challenge of achieving sustainability goals, where community well-being is seen as a central objective especially linked to the sociocultural perspective. The dimension of sustainability implies the maintenance of the system of values, practices and symbols of identity that make possible the integration over the time, the inclusion and the equity as necessary conditions for human beings. The community resilience is the capacity of the communities to overcome adversities, and at the same time construct a priority role in relation with socio-cultural sustainability. The community well-being is a concept that refers to the social, cultural and psychological needs of individuals, their families and social groups. The SDG 11, approved for the Agenda 2030, proposes that cities and human settlements be inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. In this presentation we will analyze the conceptual links between sustainability, community well-being and community resilience. To do this, we will reflect on experiences in Argentina that intertwine cultural knowledge, social capacities and organizational strategies as axes of reconstruction and strengthening against urban threats. The collective capacity of the groups to resist, overcome and rebuild in the face of adversity, contributes to community well-being by strengthening sociocultural sustainability as an engine for the development of communities.
