Resumen:
Ionised gas is a widespread, fundamental component across the Galaxy. However, there are still open issues concerning its physical properties, its relationship with the sources of ionization, etc. Tracing and characterizing this Galactic component is then largely needed. The detection of recombination lines at radio frequencies (RRLs) constitute a powerful tool to probe the diffuse ionized gas component of the Galaxy and determine its physical properties, such as density, temperature and path length. In this talk, the “GBT Diffuse Ionized Gas Survey at Low frequencies”, or GDIGS-Low, is presented. GDIGS-Low is a RRL survey of the Galactic plane carried out with the Green Bank Telescope at 340 and 800 MHz, covering the area 355◦ < l < 32◦ and |b| < 1◦ with a resolution of 360 and 160at the two frequencies, respectively. The main characteristics, utility and prospects of this survey, which will be made publicly available for the community in the future, are discussed.
