Hygrothermal evaluation of a construction component with textile waste: the case of AISLA-SUSTEX

Our research team is developing a thermal insulation with a vapor barrier called AISLA-SUSTEX using pre-consumer textile waste as the main raw material. In this sense, to evaluate the hygrothermal conditions of the component under study, the value of thermal transmittance is taken from a previous work and in this work the risk of superficial and interstitial condensation is calculated according to the calculation methodology of the IRAM 11625 standard, through the C-RC calculator, taking as a case study a social housing in the Metropolitan Area of Tucumán, Argentina. The results show that this component improves the hygrothermal conditions of the interior space of the house and therefore, contributes to the healthiness of the users as well as to reduce construction pathologies.
