Resumen:
Echocardiographic changes in growing puppies have only been reported in a few large breeds. The aim of this study was to describe the morphological and functional echocardiographic changes in puppies of dogs under 10 kg (adult body weight).Twelve healthy, 2-month-old, pure and mixed-bred, weighing 1.9±0.5 (1.3–2.5) kg, client-owned puppies were evaluated every 2 months up to 1 year of age. At each time points, body weight and echocardiographic evaluations—two-dimensional, M-mode, and Doppler—were performedusing a 10 MHz transducer (Toshiba Nemio XG, Japan), without sedation. To minimize variability, three consecutive measurements of each variable were recorded by a single trained operator. Repeated measures ANOVA followed by Tukey test was carried out to evaluate all thevariables (SPSS 22.0; SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA).In these puppies, body weight increased up to 10 months of age (P
