Resumen:
Within the framework of the ANPCyT project 12243, with the logistic support of theMunicipality of Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos, we started a geochemical-isotopical andgeophysical investigation of solid waste disposals. In this work, we present a chemical andisotopic characterization of waters present in the landfill. From the obtained results, we canconclude that surface waters, pools and arroyos show isotope values corresponding toevaporated meteoric waters. This isotopic signature could be used as a tracer ingroundwater infiltration. Water from a windmill located outside the landfill exhibits theisotopic value and characteristics of local rain water, sodium bicarbonate type and lowelectric conductivity, reflecting conditions prior the landfill settlement. Conversely, theIrazusta windmill located inside the landfill shows sodium chloride type water, higher electricconductivity and isotope values within an evaporation line as well as more tritium content,indicating a potential contribution of landfill water. A large 2H, 18O y 3H record of precipitationand a more detailed leachate, groundwater and surficial water sampling will allow to establishthe pollution mechanisms.
