Resumen:
The results of a five years continuous sampling measuring physical-chemical parameters on theleachate coming from a landfilling area in Mar del Plata and groundwater samples from wellsclose to the pollution source are presented. The measured parameters are temperature, electrical conductivity, pH and the concentration of major ions and some minor ions, includingtrace metals. In this work the determination of environmental isotopes on leachate andgroundwater samples are added. The objective is to analyze what type of data is more profitableconsidering its representativity and costs to be applied in monitoring programs.Measurements related to the high saline content like electrical conductivity and chlorideconcentration showed to be the most convenient tools to follow the leachate infiltration impact.Nitrate concentration showed a continuous increasing trend, but the interpretation is not cleardue to the existence of other pollution sources. The heavy metals concentrations usually don?texceed the background values. Stable isotopes show that leachate is on the meteoric line andgroundwater samples from wells probably affected by infiltration are located near to leachate. The leachate has relatively high tritium values, with a good correlation against Cl- concentration.
