Resumen:
The material ejected by a supernova, together with the preceding shock waves irreversibly modify the properties of the interstellar medium by creating and destroying dust grains and molecules. In addition to this material expanding supersonically, under certain conditions the remnants of a supernova (SNRs) may include dense objects such as neutron stars or form black holes. In their role as cosmic accelerators, these stellar remnants produce highly energetic particles and are therefore closely linked to the origin of cosmic rays at Galactic level. The radiation from the remnants can be detected throughout the electromagnetic spectrum, showing a wide morphological and dynamic diversity due to its interaction with the environment. This paper summarizes some of the most surprising results along with still open issues in the multi-frequency study of SNRs.
