Resumen:
?Crisis? as a concept is part of the history of Coloniality since its beginning in the XVI, although it wasn?t always named that way. Its etymology, connected to the legal discourse and to an affirmative ethos, establishes the polemics that are at the very foundation of the colonial discourse. Social Sciences in the Global South have been discussing the idea of crisis and its paradoxes. In the pandemic experience, that has highlighted inequalities as few circumstances before, reflecting about crisis and its aporias in a comparative perspective between Latin America and Asia is mandatory. In this workshop, we aim to discuss those ideas, to question methodological and theoretical assumptions, and to revise the notion of the useless as a way of intervention in the public sphere. That is why we gather together young researchers from the Global South (Latin America, Asia, Middle East) so as to discuss comparative perspectives, to develop and expand conceptual and empirical networks, and to reflect on the possibilities and aporias of our daily work.In addition, we are looking forward to broadening and strengthening the South-South dialogue that we?ve been developing since 2018 in the USA (the Summer Program in Social Sciences at the Institute of Advance Studies, directed by Professor Didier Fassin), Latin America (Bogotá, coordinated by Professor Mara Viveros) and South Africa (coordinated by Professor Sarah Nuttal) in 2019, and presented in Lasa 2020 and Lasa 2021. In this regard, Lasa/Asia 2022 represents a great opportunity and a superb chance.
