We present the theoretical and experimental progress in the field ofcoherent electron emission from simple molecules by the impact ofenergetic charged particles. In particular, we outline the differenttheoretical approaches to tackle the single ionization of diatomicmolecules by the impact of heavy-ions. Furthermore, a comparison withexperimental measurements, where available, is made.
