The International Dark Matter Day in Argentina

The International Dark Matter Day is celebrated worldwide on October 31 everyyear since 2017. In Argentina, it was organised for the first time in 2019 in an outreach effortcoordinated by the ANDES deep underground laboratory. In 2019, we started a call for artstudents to propose an audiovisual piece on Dark Matter, asked about whether basic sciencewas important for Argentina and coordinated the projection of the full dome ?Phantom of theUniverse? video in 4 digital planetariums in Argentina. In 2020, with no possibility of publicevent due to the pandemic, we repeated the audiovisual art call and organised a call for drawingsand questions about Dark Matter for kids, reaching kids from Brazil and Mexico in addition toArgentina, among other activities. We describe here some of the answers obtained to the callsand how these answers can be used to understand better the preconceptions permeating societyand therefore communicate better abstract topics such as Dark Matter.
