Understanding Haiti. In fact, national traditions grew in a complementary process tothe observation of the whole region and its dependent internationalstatus.  Sociological research took thenation-states as the unit of analysis, but in a comparative focus, given thatunderdevelopment was considered in a regional perspective. Taking into accountthis particular feature of Latin American Sociology, the book intends to showits contributions to regional analysis, as long as to the consolidation ofnational and local academic traditions. The book brings together the work of 27classic authors of Latin American sociology, prologued by 27 specialists.
