Chorote´s vernacular dwellings were not quite different fromothers indigenous groups of the South American Chaco. Their settlements were conformed by six to twelve houses arranged in a circular pattern, built as a temporary residence because their semi-nomadic hunter-gatherer way of life. A big mesquite tree (Prosopis alba) was choosed as its center which served as a ´club-house´ where social meetings,beverage parties, collective games, and music and dances festivals were performed  (Karsten, 1932). Its location was choosed in relation to the availability of fruit trees, hunting animals, and water sources in the neighbourghood. They housed one extended family or ´banda´ defined by maternal linkages, because their uxorilocal norms of residence.
