Resumen:
Water and sediments contamination is one of the moredramatic environmental problems that humanity isfacing now. The situation is worst in the undevelopedcountries, with overcrowd cities and deficient water management.Heavy metals, pathogens and recalcitrant organic compounds arebetween the most dangerous pollutants found in those environments.Versatile and relatively cheap processes for water, waste waterand sediments purification should be developed in an attempt toremediate the situation. In this chapter, a few examples of waterand sediment contamination in Argentina are presented, as wellas remediation alternatives based in the use of nano and bioclays.
