Resumen:
This chapter offers a brief overview of current Argentine migration policy as it relates to its emigrants. In 2003, a law that recognises the human right to migrate (Law No. 25,871) was issued which included a section addressing Argentines abroad. This chapter deals with the following questions: what has been the impact, if any, of this framework? Has this recognition re-oriented state actions (e.g. diaspora or emigration policies)? By providing a review of the literature in Argentina, as well as specific programmes, isolated actions, the current framework, agreements and actors, the chapter concludes that the impact of the legal framework was much less the creation of new initiatives than the inclusion of emigration issues as part of migration policy. Thus, the framework achieved the institutionalisation of previous random initiatives
