Resumen:
A new ground based Dlfterential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) systems has been developed at CEILAP (CITEFA CONICET) Jaboratory (340 33 S 58° 30 W) located in the Buenos Aires industrial suburbs Argentina. This system is an improvement of the previous one operative since 1999 The DIAL technique is used for the dptermination of the stratospheric ozone profile between U5 km and 45 km The XeCI excimer laser which emit at a wavelength of 308 nm is used since ozone has at this wavelength a strong absorption une A Nd YAG laser 355 nm third harmonic is employed as a reference wavelength This new instrument has an increased emiuer performance a bigger optic reception area. The detection channeis sed for stratospheric ozone retrieval have been increased to six. The two elastically backscauered signais of the emitted wavelengths are detected to high and Iow energy Also the two backscattered signals corresponding to the first Stokes nitrogen Raman spectrum channeis will be employed to avoid problems Iinked to stratospheric aerosol contamination. A detailed description of the stratospheric ozone lidar placed inside a portable shelter, is given in the present work together with the first ozone profile measurement made with this instrument
