The following text draws a wide survey of the south American abstractionism following, in a first place the canonical path (Uruguay, Argentina, Brasil, Venzuela).In a second place, tries to question this historiographical sense by considering other artists and South American cities: Asunción, Santiago de Chile, Bogotá. Following these critical readings, the intention is to establish new perspective s for the Latin American History of Art, analyzing the different means in which the abstract norm was produced.
