Resumen:
This chapter focuses on the study of variations in late Holocene projectile points from northern and southern coasts of Magellan Strait (Patagonia, South America) in order to explore the existence of cultural divergence processes after the strait formation (9000 BP). We assess size and shape variations, as well as morphological spatial patterns through geometric morphometric and spatial analyses. Our study shows that despite the short geographic distance between northern and southern samples, there are significant differences in projectile point shape, patterns of module covariation and allometry, which exhibit a strong spatial correlation, showing two major morphological clusters on the northern and southern coasts.
