Resumen:
Whenever the examined genotypes (varieties, clones, cultivars, etc.) in anexperiment can be regarded as a random sample from a larger set or population, thegenotype effects should be considered as random in the modeling process. Commonly, random genotype effects are assumed to broaden inferences, i.e. to allow inference about areference population . Moreover, pairwise comparison between the specific genotypes thathave been examined will also be feasible. Beside estimating among and within genotypevariance components which are of intrinsic interest with random genotype effects,, thegenotype can be comparing by calculating the BLUPs (Best Linear Unbiased Predictors) ofgenotype effects. Here best means minimum mean squared prediction error.
