Resumen:
This chapter presents a formulation to evaluate the imperfection sensitivity of geometrically nonlinear problems governed by trifurcation behavior. The methodology employs a variational approach based on the total potential energy of the system, together with a singular perturbation analysis to construct the explicit imperfection sensitivity expressions. First and second order perturbation expansions are computed using the equilibrium and stability conditions and their contracted forms. The results show that systems that display trifurcation have higher imperfection-sensitivity than those governed by bifurcation behavior.
