This chapter discusses the main mechanisms that support health research in Argentina. It focuses on the programs run by the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research, the Secretariat for Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Health. The author describes the characteristics of these institutions within the National Innovation System, analyzing their scope, evolution and bias. The chapter concludes with the identification of specialization patterns among funds and an exploration of the determining factors for funding public research in Argentina.
