Resumen:
This chapter proposes the development of a quality of life index for Argentina's population. This index is obtained from the weighted combination of socioeconomic (education, health and housing) and environmental (nature-based recreational resources, socially-constructed recreational resources and environmental problems) indicators. The unit of analysis are 510 departments (belonging to 23 provinces) and 15 communes of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires City (CABA). It is also proposed a comparison with the previous index of the year 2001 to be able to know the evolution of the quality of life in the last years. The results show clear progress in socio-economic indicators during the first decade of the century; however, the level of regional inequality remains high.
