The imidazole ring is a versatile moiety that plays a role in many biological and technological processes.The present chapter describes the structural characterization, the polyelectrolyte propierties and the proton dynamics of imidazole bases-materials, with special emphasis on the application for proton conductors, gene delivery systems, pollutant adsorbents, fluorescen sensor and OLED technologies.
