Resumen:
This article analyses the administration of women´s prisons in Argentina during the process of State consolidation in the light of two cases: The Correctional Institution for Women (Santa Fe) and the Olmos Prison for Women (Buenos Aires). In both cases, the Sisters of Good Shepherd´s administration faced resistance from several State and non-state agents. We intend to revisit an old issue in the light of a new gender approach which questions the relationship between female punishment, civil society, the State and its agents. The final aim it is to contribute towards a historical non androcentric analysis of women´s prisons from a archival research.
