Resumen:
This article will discuss the challenge of elaboratinghigher quality programs to maximize the potential of each emergent reader, and foster the developmentof abilities and strategies related to attention, memory, executive functions, social skills, positiveemotions, language comprehension and production. It will draw on theoretical and empirical workconducted in Argentina, acknowledging the interrelatedness of these abilities, the diverse cultural andlinguistic background of pupils, and will posit the benefits of relying on a narrative framework to achieveoptimal early literacy development.
