Resumen:
This paper examines the relationship established between the fields of history of psychology, and science, technology and society studies (STS). It presents a brief historical overview to situate the present status of the field of psychology within the broad STS arena. It also describes the influence of STS studies in the field of history of psychology, acknowledging their contributions in understanding the historical issues in psychology. The paper concludes that STS studies play an important role in advancing the production of historical knowledge. In particular, they shed light on the conceptual frameworks used in historical research, they clarify historical inquires, and they help define psychological epistemic objects. Future studies should critically assess both fields´ achievements, as well as the challenges that arise when integration attempts between philosophical, historical and sociological perspectives of knowledge are carried out.
