Resumen:
2AbstractNetworks that exhibit large hubs are prone to showhigher connectivity thanrandom structures.Thisfeature is also reflected in the presence of power lawdistribution in the degree distribution of nodes. We check for the presence ofpower law degree distributions inFacebook Page Networks(FPN).We analyzedata collected from 325 Facebook fan pages froman Argentinian median citysummarizing 94 thousand nodes and 6.5 million edges during a whole year.Wefound that whole network exhibits power law degree distributions but when weanalyzed the subnetworks that compose it only a handful of marginalnetworksin terms of size and level of engagement. We findthat main subnetworks exhibitsmall world properties such as averagegeodesic distance approximates andcorrelates to the natural logarithm of the graph range. We begin our contributionbysurveying thetopicof power law in degree distributionand small worldinonlinenetworks.Weestimate theslopes of the log-log degree distribution foreach networkfor identifying free scale structuresandstatisticallyassociatenetwork structural properties with the presence ofpower law distributions.Wepresent statistical results that associate structural parameters with the presenceof power law distributionsand small world effectshading light to new patternsfor detecting the properties in networks.
