Resumen:
Abstract.A tissue culture model is presented where strips of humanirides were glued (Tesseel®) onto a PMMA intraocular lens (IOL). The preparations were followed for 21 days in the phase contrast microscope and subsequently prepared for scanning electron microscopy. Cells of two types readily grew onto the PMMA surface. Fibroblastlike cells formed aproteinaceous membrane covering the IOL surface whereas pigment containing epitheloid cells sometimes formed cellular aggregates similar to precipitates found in vivo on the IOL surface.
