Resumen:
Multifunctional surfaces in biology and technology often exhibit various combined features such as self-cleaning, mechanical stability, sensing or catalytic properties. In a biomimetic approach it is of great interest to characterise biological and technical surfaces in order to mimic their properties. In this study we have used the RIMAPS technique to examine the topographical patterns of non-wettable surfaces. The surfaces analysed were rough copper samples and plant leaves. Strong similarities between both kinds of surfaces and the main directions on their topography have been identified. This simple and rapid examination could become important for industrial implementation and enhance biomimetic transfer.
