Resumen:
Apomixis in flowering plants is defined as the asexual formation of seeds from the maternal tissues of the ovule. The trait is characterized by a failure in meiosis and fertilization events, though leading to normal embryo development. Since offsprings are generated in absence of recombination and fertilization, they are exact genotypic copies of the maternal plant (Nogler, 1984).
