Resumen:
Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis is the causal agent of caseous lymphadenitis of sheep and goats (LAC), generating further cutaneous abscesses and granulomas in horses and cattle. LAC is a chronic, insidious and cosmopolitas disease. The infection has an endemic level in Chile, increasing its incidence during the dry season. However, the diagnosis is generally made by clinical signs usually being presumptive in nature. The aim of this paper is to present a brief review about the current state of infection, describing characteristics of the agent, the epidemiology and the alternatives for disease diagnosis.
