Resumen:
We document the first records of the migratory Lined Seedeater Sporophila lineola in Misionesprovince, Argentina. At least six males and three females were observed, of which three males werephotographed and two sound- recorded at Puerto Iguazú in a disturbed area of Atlantic Forest closeto the Paraná and Iguazú rivers. Apparently territorial singing males were present from earlyJanuary 2008 to early March 2008. We observed Lined Seedeaters feeding on seeds of severalgrasses (Echinochloa cf. polystachya, Paspalum urvillei and Paspalum notatum). A cursorialcomparison of songs of Lined Seedeaters from Misiones with songs from other areas suggests thatgeographic variation in vocalisations of the species cannot be fully described solely in terms of thetwo dialects that have been historically recognised. Further bioacoustic research should aim toenhance our understanding of the ecology and migration of the Lined Seedeater
