High concentrations of air pollutants emitted in urban centres located in coastal zones might result in enhanced air-to-water deposition fluxes. The Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (MABA) is the third mega-city of Latin America and emits significant amounts of nitrogen oxides (NOx). Atmospheric nitrogen (N) coming from these emissions can be transported and transferred to coastal waters of de la Plata River through dry and wet deposition processes. We are studying the N deposition processes on the river surface waters and the main controlling factors within the atmospheric boundary layer on local scale.
