Abstract. This paper presents a typology of different constitutional conceptions, which may help us to classify the legal documents appeared in Latin America during the Nineteenth Century and contrast the opposing ideas that were then present. The analysis mainly refers to the 1810-1860 period, as that was when the basic features of their Constitutions were shaped.
