Resumen:
The process of one carbon homologation of 5,6-dimethoxy-indan-1-ol afforded an unexpected product which was assigned as 3-(2,3-dihydro-5,6-dimethoxy-1H-inden-1-yl)-5,6-dimethoxy-1H-indene by comparison with a compd. in the literature. It is shown by synthesis that the assigned structure was wrong and that the compd. is 2-(2,3-dihydro-5,6-dimethoxy-1H-inden-1-yl)-5,6-dimethoxy-1H-indene.
