Resumen:
SiO2-​supported bimetallic and organobimetallic PtSn catalysts were prepd. by surface organometallic chem. on metals and tested in the hydrogenation of different carbonyl compds. [RCHO (R = Pr, Ph)​, EtCOMe, cyclohexanone, R1CH:CHCHO [R1 = Me, Ph (I)​]​]​. The influence of the Sn​/Pt at. ratio on I hydrogenation was studied, yielding an optimum value of ∼0.4. The selective hydrogenation of the C=O group in polyfunctional mols. was explained on the basis of a combination of geometric (specially in organobimetallic catalysts)​, and electronic effects due to the presence of ionic Sn.
