Resumen:
Specimens belonging to the
genus Pleurotus were collected growing on living trees of Araucaria
araucana in Patagonia, Argentina. Fruitbodies were produced in culture on
sawdust from the strain isolated. Interspecific pairing tests were undertaken
among mating types from Pleurotus from Patagonia and test strains of P.
pulmonarius and P. ostreatus. The results showed that the former
strain was 100 % compatible with P. ostreatus and incompatible with the
other tested species. Hybrids obtained on sawdust were fertile, since they were
able to produce fruitbodies and spores. This is the first record of P.
ostreatus from Argentina.
