Resumen:
Mixed Zr02/Ti02 oxides with variable zirconia to titania molar ratios have been prepared by the sol-gel process, using as zirconium precursor n-propoxide and titanium isopropoxide mixed at difTerent ratios and hydrolyzed with water. X-ray difTraction, thennal difTerential and thermogravimetric analysis, Laser Ramao spectroscopy ancj Fourier Traosfónn Iofrared spectroscopy have been used to uoderstand the structural properties of zirconia-titania oxides calcined at difTerent temperatures. The thermal behavior was seositive to the mixed oxide chemical compositioos. In solids with zr02 as the major component the addition of Ti02 retarded the onset of the tetragonal ~ monocJinic phase transformation. In the opposite side it was observed that the anatase~rutile transfonoation of TiO: was iohibited by the presence of zr02. By doping, also the sintering aod crystallite growth rates of the sol-gel derived ZrO2/Ti02 oxides were retarded. Tbe average crystallite size was found that depend on the solid composition.
