Resumen:
The research and development of better prosthetic heart valves need better knowledge of their effect on the blood flow, therefore a new design  will need hemodinamics studies. This paper presents a numerical model based on finite element analysis, developed and validated for bileaflet prosthetic heart valve. This model assumes laminar and steady-state flow, Newtonian and incompressible fluid and isothermical system. The model was developed to be used in the design of trileaflet prosthetic heart valves, to be presented in a second paper.
