The study of the light intensity curves (LIC) obtained with Unidirectional Laser Oblique Illumination (ULOI) permits to determine crystal orientations in aluminium, in a similar way as classical etch pitting, but without the need of taking a photograph of the surface. Moreover, this method does not required an electrolitical polishing of the surface.
