Resumen:
We have recently demonstrated that arterial PTRrP expression and cardiovascular response to this protein are altered in SHR compared with WKY  and SD controls. To investigate whether the slighly, but significant decreased aortic PTHrP expression observed in SHR vs normotensive rats may play a causative role in the elevated ABP in SHR. We trasnfected an hepatic lobe with a PTHrP expression vector in a sense an antisense direction. Our work add additional data to a cumulative body of evidence suggesting that it may be possible to design an effective gene therapy to treat the common polygenic and multifactorial form of hypertension by increasing the activity of potent and physiological vasodilators.
