Resumen:
The feasibility for improving the magnetic performance of Fe by means of addition of Ferro-P (by Cantaro S.A., Argentine) alloyed powder is studied. The idea pretends to promote the liquid phase formation close to eutectic temperature of Fe-P binary system. The mixtures are moulded by: uni-axial pressing (at 700 MPa) and sintered under dry hydrogen flux. The reached densities are close to 90 % of full density Fe. The microstructure characterization, the resulting grain and inter-granular phase distribution are analyzed by means of SEM, EDS and DRX. Dilatometric studies at different concentrations of Ferro-P have determined the useful ranges of contractions experienced by the samples are between 1-1.5%. Also, the DC hysteresis loops of all materials are analyzed with PPMS 9T Quantum Design. The preliminary results with control of Ferro-P added show the viability of liquid phase sintering for improvement of Fe magnetic performance.
