Resumen:
Alte rnative pr otein ingr edients ar e grad ually replacin g fish meal in aquafeeds. Ho wever , farmed an imals ofte n stru ggl e to digest th e pr ovide d feed , whic h lead s to inefficien t nutr ien t assi m ilation . This result s in a high feed co nve rsion rati o an d in wate r qualit y deteri oration . Fish wast e -derive d pr oteases show grea t pote ntial as bioa c - tive ingr edients to enhanc e pr otein digestibility. To achiev e this , a suitable ca rrier is esse ntial to includ e exog e - nous pr oteases in th e fish feed fo rmulation . Ther efore , this research aime d to immobilize a shrimp enzyme ex - trac t into di ffe ren t alginate -base d micr oca psule s throug h electr odynami c atomiz ation an d co mpare thei r stru c - tura l an d functional properties . Mo rphology, physic ochem ica l an d therma l properties , an d in vitro pr otein releas e were eval uated fo r th e fo llo win g micr oca psule s made from va r iou s materials: alginate (A), alginate -chitosan (AC) , alginate -bentonit e (AB) , alginate -bentonit e pr eviousl y su bjected to a so n ication trea tment (ABs), an d a co mbination of al l material s (ABs C or ABC) . Th e averag e size s ranged from 36 0 to 79 0 μ m (wet ) an d 26 0 –51 6 μ m (freez e -dried) , co nfirmin g th e expected di ffe rences, with larger size s fo r thos e includin g ch itosa n an d be ntonite . ABsC proved to be th e most suitable sy ste m fo r immobili zin g exog enous pr oteases , as thes e pa rti - cles exhi bited high enca psulation efficiency in both we t an d freeze -drie d ve rsion s an d di splayed co ntrolle d pr o - tein releas e unde r ty p ica l co ndition s of th e prox ima l inte stine . This wa s fu rther co nfirmed throug h an in vivo trial. Tw o bioa ssays were co nducted with tilapi a (Oreochromis niloticus ) ( n = 42 , 2. 6 ± 0.58 g) to eval uat e th e di str i b ution of ABsC -rodamine labele d pa rticles in dige stive organs an d dige stive enzyme acti vity. ABsC re - mained in th e inte stine fo r over 7 h, an d a si gni ficant increase in tota l pr oteolytic acti vit y wa s observed 60 mi n afte r feeding. Thes e findings su ggest that ABsC micr oca psule s coul d serv e as effe ctive ca rrier s fo r exog enous pr o - teases in feed s fo r aquacu lture .
