Resumen:
Emerging organic contaminants (EOCs) are increasingly being detected in the environment and have become a matter concern because of their potential adverse effects on ecosystems and human health. Conventional extraction and separation methods often fail to effectively isolate EOCs. Recently, Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADESs), have emerged as promising alternatives to traditional organic solvents for the extraction and separation of EOCs. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in the application of NADESs for the extraction and separation of these contaminants. Extraction methodologies employing NADESs are discussed, and their effectiveness is evaluated in terms of the extraction efficiency and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, this review explores the potential of NADESs as green mobile phases or additives in chromatographic separation was examined, highlighting their ability to enhance the separation of these compounds. In addition, challenges and future perspectives of NADES-based extraction and separation techniques are discussed.
