Comparative green analysis between different catalytic methodologies used in stereoselective reduction reaction of acetophenone

The acetophenone stereoselective reduction reactions carriedout by different chemical or biochemical methodologiesreported in the literature were analyzed. This study showedthe importance of evaluation in each reaction step, both holisticallyand quantitatively, even if the amounts used are at themmol level. It is clear that the use of catalysts does not guaranteethat the chemical process is environmentally friendly, as wellas that the benefits of bio-driven processes can be diminisheddue to the complications of product purification. This workshows that the development of tools to determine the sustainabilityof a process is extremely important.
