Resumen:
Airway obstruction is a frequent complication in dogs with brachycephalic syndrome, particularly in the presence of sedative and anesthetic agents ( Lindsay et al., 2020 ). Various techniques have been proposed to resolve this emergency in those breeds during the perianesthetic period ( Packer and Tivers, 2015 ). In humans, oropharyngeal airway devices, such as the Guedel style, are used to establish a patent airway, to act as a bite block and consequently to improve ventilation ( Baskett, 2004 ). We wish to communicate the design and initial evaluation of a three dimensional (3D)-printed oropharyngeal airway device specifically constructed for brachycephalic dogs.
